Another new style and yeast trial combo episode. A German Pils fermented at an Ale temperature with the L05 Cablecar yeast strain from Imperial Yeast. This is, to take the phrase for Imperial Yeast’s website, a pseudo-style.
I’m trying to read the style characteristics of style 5D German Pils, from the Category 5 Pale Bitten European Beer in the BJCP style guide. Now whether or not this strain of yeast can do that at ale temperatures remains to be seen.
Whatever happens, it should be interesting. And there will be beer in the end, so that’s always a win.
