For decades, I’ve scoured the internet for audio adaptation of “War of the Worlds”. More of the time, they are remade performances of the 1938 Mercury Theatre on the air version that launched my entire obsession. But every so often I find a new adaptation that offers a new take on the story.
But this year, I’ve found something I’ve never heard before. A remake of the 1971 WKBW version of “War of the Worlds”.
I’ve made no secret of the fact the WKBW version of “War of the Worlds” is my favorite version – specifically the 1971 version.
I was stunned to come across this 1978 remake of the story performed and aired by KSEI 930 AM in Pocatello, Idaho.
And now, I’m excited to share it in this year’s War of the Worlds week event.
You hero, this was once on YouTube and then it disappeared. I’ve been looking for this for ages.
Thank you so much
I went to work at KSEI right after this program aired. App[arently some people thought it was rea much like what happened with the 1938 broadcast. I read a couple of nasty letters from listeners who were panicked .by what they heard.
