Ya Gotta See Them Live

Ya Gotta See Them Live is a podcast about the power of live music, told one band at a time. Dave and a rotating cast of friends share their stories of seeing a band on stage, and make the case for why you should too. The lineup runs from The Kinks and Rod Stewart to Megadeth, Nirvana and Eagles of Death Metal. The show launched in 2026.

Start here:
• The Kinks: the very first episode
• Megadeth: with longtime NEOZAZ friend Ted Dastick Jr.
• ZZ Top and Tribute to Frank Beard: Matt’s tribute to the band’s founding drummer

Ya Gotta See Them Live – Blues Traveler

Dave makes the case for seeing Blues Traveler live, from the four-ish times he's caught them since 2023. It starts in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, where John Popper lived for eight years and was a regular at the movie theater where Dave and his friends worked. Then come shows in Reading, a free front-row night at a Quakertown band shell, a solo Popper surprise at Oceans Calling, and a 90s triple bill with Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms in Bethlehem.

Ya Gotta See Them Live – ZZ Top and Tribute to Frank Beard

Matt takes the mic for a special edition and a tribute to Frank Beard, ZZ Top's founding drummer. He grew up on Eliminator and Afterburner but never made it to a show as a kid. Then a pandemic-era documentary turned him into a real fan just as the band lost Dusty Hill. He finally saw them from the ninth row at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, with longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis on bass. Plus a Tonight Show clip worth hunting down, a ticket with no surprise fees and a strawberry shortcake for the road.

Ya Gotta Them Live – Peter Gabriel

Dave isn't alone this time. Khrysti, the voice of NEOZAZ, joins him to make the case for seeing Peter Gabriel live, an artist they once saw together. Dave starts with the 2002 Growing Up tour in Philadelphia: a show in the round with the Blind Boys of Alabama, Gabriel singing upside down and riding a bike through Solsbury Hill. Then Khrysti explains why she flew from Orlando to catch him with Sting on the 2016 Rock Paper Scissors tour in Camden, New Jersey. Plus Say Anything, Secret World Live, lawn seats versus real seats, and Wawa by the Delaware.
