  • Hey Dave Brad from QHS 1991 here, thanks for sharing your list, it’s a good one. Chris will never understand horror is the best genre as long as Mel Gibson is still making movies.

Here’s my list, I will qualify I didn’t see Heart Eyes yet (waiting for V-day this year) and did not qualify Predator Badlands as horror, or it would have been #3.

    1. Bring Her Back – Great lead performance by Sally Hawkins and the kids, just pure bleak horror at its finest. It stays with you and is really a nice complete story.

    2. Sinners – Without a doubt the best acted and produced horror movie and maybe overall movie of the year. Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan deserve awards.

    3. Weapons – Thank goodness we still have originality in horror. A refreshing take on the genre with a classic villain and some real memorable sequences.

    4. Match (Tubi) – Such a fun group experience, a movie where going in absolutely blind pays off bigtime. Don’t research it, just watch it.

    5. Companion – Sophie Thatcher shines and there’s some nice surprises, kudos for not spoiling this one in your review. Horror adjacent but I count it.

    6. The Ugly Stepsister – I’m a sucker for a twisted fairytale and while it can drag here and there, it pays off and reminds me of an extended Tales from the Crypt.

    7. Final Destination 6 – Welcome back! These movies are always so much fun and this was a fresh take on why death took such a long break. Once again amazing kills that didn’t hold back. RIP Tony Todd.

    8. Dangerous Animals – Jai Courtney just makes this so much fun.

    9. VHS Halloween – Easily the best installment of this series in years.

10 Keeper – I found The Monkey to be too goofy, so I’m putting this Oz Perkins tale on the list. A classic horror tale with good performances, acting, pacing, and story.
