Dave’s Halloween special walks through the Halloween franchise from John Carpenter’s 1978 original to Halloween: Resurrection. For each film you get a quick recap, where it’s streaming and a score out of 10. On the way he covers the Thorn timeline, the masks that never looked right again, Paul Rudd’s first screen credit and Busta Rhymes’ kung fu fight. A good primer if you’re planning a Halloween marathon.

26 Tell police! Tell the sheriff I shot him. Donavis, he’s still on the loose. Is this some kind of joke? I’ve been tricked or treated to death tonight. You don’t know what death is. Hello and welcome to Streams and Nightmares, where the horror is always streaming and the nightmares never end. My name is Dave and I am your host of the best, the worst, and the bloodiest, streaming horror on all streaming platforms. Welcome back to the show and happy Halloween, as we’ve mentioned many times on lots of our NEOZAZ podcasts. If you’re familiar with any of them, Halloween is our favorite holiday. It is our favorite time of year that we dive into the thing that we like most. So it’s only fitting that a horror podcast like Streams and Nightmares do a Halloween special, and that’s what this is. And I’m dedicating this to my friends.
30 Favorite, favorite, favorite thing in horror all time, and that is the Halloween franchise. So, what I thought I’d do. Go through at least the parts of the Halloween franchise that I like to discuss. Let you know where they’re streaming. Give you a brief recap if you forgot some of the stuff that happens in the later movies. To prime you for maybe a Halloween marathon on Halloween night. I know I intend. On Halloween night as I’ve made a tradition for myself. Over the past many, many years, to attend a big screen screening of the original 1978 classic. John Carpenter’s Halloween, which I will be doing this Saturday night. So, whatever your Halloween plans are, maybe you’ll include this podcast as one of them because I’m gonna go through. The franchise, or at least part of the franchise, mentioned the other ones very briefly because I don’t like talking about them anymore. But that means we start at the beginning with the all-time classic. The nineteen eighties nineteen seventy eight.
34 Perfect, perfect movie, which I have talked about a lot on a lot of podcasts over the years of NEOZAZ, including this show. And that is the original Halloween. This is a 10 out of 10. I did my 10 out of 10 Hall of Fame show, I don’t know, many months ago. And of course, this was on it. It is streaming on AMC Plus, Shudder, Fubo, YouTube, and, like I said, in theaters. better way to celebrate Halloween than to go see it in theaters with a bunch of your friends. really loud. Enjoying it the way it was intended, but just to give you that extra little bit of Halloween spirit, here’s the original trailer. Halloween Night. Small American town. years ago. What’s up, guys? eight years trying to reach him.
58 seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply evil. Uh I think you’ll come back. Exploring uncharted territory? Totally charted. Sure, sure. The only reason she babysit is to have Halloween. Okay then. Come on out. Fuck!
03 Oh. What? Um Whoa. Okay. Uh Um Okay. So I mean, you know how when people watch all these movies at Christmas and they say, like, well, it’s not Christmas until I see Hans Gruber fall off the Nakatomi building. It’s not Christmas until that happens.
04 Well for me. It’s not Halloween until I hear P.J. Soles say the word totally. About 10 times in Halloween. This movie is perfectly made. It’s the pacing Chris from Pass the Popcorn. And I were just talking about pacing in movie and how, yeah, some movies you could construe them as being boring. But if the pacing and wetting your whistle all along the way for things that are gonna pay off later happens, like a master filmmaker like John Carpenter does, it’s not boring. It’s perfectly paced. Some of the tracking shots in this are way ahead of its time. The one where Laurie is walking to the house where the climax will happen, it’s this long tracking shot. There’s another long tracking shot that you just heard in the trailer of Laurie running from the house to try and get anyone to come to the door to help her. There’s so many great things in this. And I’ve talked about it a lot, so I’m not going to dwell too much on Halloween because people are probably sick of me talking about it, but it is the reason that I love horror. It’s, it is the reason for the season.
13 Just like Jesus is to Christmas, Michael Myers is to Halloween, and I have so much crap all over my little. dork layer, including like my match book. Uh matchbook from the Rabbit in Red Lounge that Loomis finds on the dashboard. Like there’s so many great little things about Halloween that people have. Clung to over the years. It’s a 10 out of 10. It’s one of the greatest movies ever made. And I’ll shut up about it, okay? Although you’re gonna have to hear me ramble about how much I love something else right now as well, because we go from Halloween straight into Halloween to 1981. streaming on Prime, Peacock, and also in theaters. I saw Halloween 2 last year in theaters, and I love that people are starting to not just show Halloween, but also show this from time to time because I think people that really love this know how good Halloween 2 is as well. That was also in my Hall of Fame. This is another 10 out of 10, and it’s hard for a sequel to back something up. This did
15 Halloween 2 does. I shot him six times. I shot him in the heart. This mad, he’s not human. Universal Pictures presents Halloween 2. More of the night he came home. Reason that wasn’t even remotely human. Some kind of a joke? I’ve been trigger-treated to death tonight. You don’t know what death is. Janet. Go tell Mr. Garrett we’re having trouble with the folks there is no place to hide. He will always find you. What’s this? It’s a Celtic word. It means the Lord of the Dead.
46 Together. the night he came home. Okay, so I wanted to point out that there are a few things in this that someone could poke fun at. And I’ve heard people do it, and it’s very funny because you can tell that they’re fans, and that’s what you do. You take the piss out of the things you like. Like how deranged Dr. Loomis starts to come. We’ve talked about this. There are times that he’s straight up ready to murder somebody. Teenagers, right?
56 There’s that. There’s the ending. Laurie Strode, who you can assume has never shot a gun in her life with two shots. Perfectly aim. Two shots right in Michael Myers’ eyes. Is that stuff happening? Of course not. No, I don’t care. Okay, because I actually saw this one first. Uh so the original Halloween is kind of a prequel to me. being a little kid and not really having access to these. At the time, I saw Halloween 2 first, and it starts with that great recap. Of the original because it is the same night, which I love when they do that in movies. And the shot that I know hooked me. was picture in Halloween Laurie Strode the original is in the closet. Michael Myers breaking through the closet door and Laurie pokes his eye with the hanger. He goes down. Laurie, instead of running, decides to sit down and relax in the hall like most final girls do. And it’s the shot of Michael Myers laying straight on his back.
59 Sitting straight up. Turning his head in a robotic way at her. That was the shot that got me hooked with Halloween. And that’s all Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers and director of some pretty shitty movies later in his life. That deserves a lot of credit. That is the thing that really got me hooked. I love a couple other little things in this though. Nancy Loomis, who plays Annie, comes back. For that one scene when they wheel her body out and Sheriff Brackett gets to see her. So Annie Brackett has maybe five. That’s being generous. Seconds of screen time in this movie. And Nancy Loomis comes back. I have a feeling Nancy Loomis and Debra Hill and John Carpenter are really good friends because not only is she in these, she’s an assault in Precinct 13. I think she’s actually probably the best part of the first two movies as far as the girls. Jamie Lee Curtis gets a lot of credit. She deserves it all. But when you think about that triad of girls being P.J. Soless, Nancy Loomis, and Jamie Lee Curtis, the other two are much more entertaining.
04 Then Jamie Lee Curtis’s. I love that stuff. That in fact, that’s the scene that Dana Carvey’s in. Talk about that a lot. Dana Carvey is a In the front yard, as Nancy Loomis is being wheeled out. But there’s a lot of nice new little things in here. Lance Guest, who I always like, is a great addition, and him slipping in that blood. All of these things are. memory makers for me. And the only other problem I have with Halloween 2, this is still a 10 out of 10. It’s one of my favorite all-time movies. There’s the Strange scene. It doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with anything. Halloween 2, like many of the other ones that I’m about to talk about, have super cuts or producers’ cuts, which you can watch if you want to track them down. They were defined for a long time. There were things that you kind of found at like a comic book convention or a horror con. and someone was selling the VHS copy for like$40. So there’s the scene when Michael Myers breaks into the school. And he writes in blood the word Samhain.
07 on the chalkboard. It’s mentioned in the trailer. It’s a Celtic. Blah, blah, blah. I feel like that one scene and that one word. Has terrible repercussions later in this series when we start getting into what I’m going to talk about in the next, I don’t know, 20 minutes or so. When we start getting Mythology involved with our Michael Myers. So, if you want to blame some of the stuff that happens later that a lot of people don’t like, I guess you can start to blame it. Here with that simple word written in perfect printing, by the way. Nice job, Michael. I mean, he never went to school after, you know, like, I don’t know, third grade, but he’s got perfect printing. And it’s kind of stupid, but none of that detracts from me as far as how much I love Halloween and by extension, Halloween too. Okay. Those are out of the way. Now let’s start talking about the other things that get people going one way or the other. Starting with Halloween 3 colon.
16 Season of the Witch, which came out in 1982. It is streaming on Prime. And Looks like Peacock. I can’t read yet. Peacock. And I actually have seen this. broadcast or shown in theaters recently. There’s a uh Drive-in theater not too far from where some of us live in Pennsylvania. I believe it’s up in Scranton area. Where Tom Atkins, the star of Halloween 3 and other things like Lethal Weapon, he’s going to be at this drive-in. And they’re showing. Halloween 3 and he’s signing autographs and taking pictures. I freaking love that. But in the meantime, let’s listen to the trailer. For Halloween 3. Listen, he just walked up out of the rain. I swear to God, that’s all there was to him. Did my father say anything to you the night he died? I don’t know. Your father came into the hospital and he. I thought he was crazy, out of his mind. He’s hanging onto a Halloween mask. He wouldn’t let it go. And what he said was.
30 Going kill us. Oh nice. And in a little while he was dead. And I don’t know what the hell is going on. I’ve been doing some detective work. I think my father ran into trouble somewhere between here and Santa Mira. Bounded ATD7 connected. Yet I know anything about this cochlear. He’s watching you, Fran, I guarantee you that. Where are they taking her? They’re taking her to the factory. Never a body at all. Operator, this is an emergency. They’re gonna kill us all. Why, Concord? Do I need a reason? Work about the change tonight, Doctor.
08 You’ll be able to watch it. Be Halloween. I’m going to Season of the witch, the night, no one. great tagline using What was the Michael Myers tagline, but not having any Michael Myers except for a brief flash on a TV screen because someone is watching Halloween and like a office or something. So this was what was to be, and people know this, I’m not telling you anything you don’t know if you’re a horror fan, an anthology series that Carpenter wanted to do because he was done with his Michael Myers story. And he wanted to have it be an anthology where they could just make a Halloween story every year. but not have it be a Michael Myers story.
09 People are starting to come around on this because for a long time, people were just pissed off that this wasn’t Michael Myers and they did not accept this. If you look at it, As called anything else, take the Halloween 3 off the beginning of it. If you just call it Season of the Witch. Would love this movie. It is well written, it is well directed, it is well acted. People are starting to come around on just how good Halloween 3 is as a standalone movie. Biggest problem being the way it was marketed, I guess, as being Halloween 3 and people not knowing then that this was Carpenter’s plan. Had it been called anything else, this is a classic. And in some ways, this is actually the scariest one. This is scary and scarier in some ways than Michael Myers because this is based in reality. I mean, there’s a lot of science fiction going on here, obviously, with the things in the masks. Mm. This is somebody killing children.
10 And I think that is something that you didn’t do especially then in movies a lot. I mean, it was done, but it was very taboo. This is a movie about killing. hundreds of thousands of little children. That ups the ante in this. It’s got a cult following. And I really enjoy parts of this. There’s that really great shot of those trick-or-treaters walking over. The valley in California as the red sun is setting and you just see their silhouettes. What a gorgeous shot! I love shots like that. And Nancy Loomis is back. I forgot that she was even in this, but she’s in this as well. I gave this a six out of 10. This is something that I will watch, maybe not every Halloween, but come back to you from time to time. And like I said, it’s streaming on Prime and Peacock. So we’re still doing pretty well with the Halloween franchise. We’re gonna turn a corner somewhat soon, starting with Halloween 4 colon.
16 The Return of Michael Myers from 1988. Ten years ago, on the night of October 31st, a small Midwestern town fell victim to an escaped killer. Under the cover of darkness, he carried out the most horrifying mass murder on record. 16 people in cold blood. ever since that night. No one has forgotten his name. and Halloween. has never been the same Now Michael Myers has come home. He has returned for one more night of unholy terror. He’s here to kill that little girl and anybody who gets in his way.
21 Oh God, who’s gonna be next? Halloween 4, the return of Michael Myers. Mapping, nobody knows how to stop him. How sick are you going to be of that Halloween theme by the time to listen to this? They know it’s great and they can just recycle that. You put that in your trailer and people are like, what? Wait. they listen. So this is what is really the beginning of what has been known. Thorn timeline. And this is where the Celtic cult. And their manipulation of Michael Myers starts. But there was a lot of dark ages in waiting until 1988.
23 Until they brought back Michael Myers. This is streaming on AMC Plus. and shudder I actually saw this. Recently at the same theater where I’m gonna see Halloween, they showed Halloween 4. Last year and I was fucking front and center. Because this isn’t something that you’d see put back in theaters a lot. But this ignores the ending of Halloween 2 with the fireball that consumes Loomis and Michael Myers and introduces Danielle Harris as Michael Myers’ niece. biggest problem and this is such a superficial thing but it is so important To the Halloween franchise. The biggest problem that people have with this one of them, anyway, is the mask. They never again get this mask right. And I mean never ever. So the fact that the mask looks as bad as it is all avail, this is like the worst thing anybody had ever seen. They’re like, well, the movie wasn’t terrible, but that fucking mask.
27 They even used the real Michael Myers mask from the first two Halloween on the poster. That’s not what you get in the movie. But this is where these movies and these sequels Which get worse and worse. Is now Donald Pleasance’s life and Moustapha Akkad. Trying to just rake in any kind of money. They didn’t cost a lot to make. He could churn them out. And the Akkad family could just keep making money. Jamie Lloyd Is the character played by Danielle Harris? She is Laurie’s daughter. They explain that Laurie is killed in a car accident. AKA Jamie the Curse didn’t want to come back. Um But one of the funniest things about trivia in here and the mask is that when Michael goes to get his mask, they were going to make it a Ronald Reagan mask. that he was gonna kill in, they were gonna ignore the Michael Myers mask. But then they thought the political overtones of that would have been really bad. I guess it wasn’t so bad that just a few years later.
31 Patrick Swayze was wearing it to rob banks, but I really kind of thought that would be funny. This is not terrible. I gave it a five out of 10 because it still ticks some of the Halloween boxes. And Danielle Harris does a really good job. And Pleasance isn’t so far gone yet. that you can still enjoy. His performance. They explain him surviving the fire with a slight scar on his cheek. which looks kind of like a fried egg. Which someone even commented on during the filming. I think it was Donald Pleasance’s girlfriend said, Oh, look, Donald, it looks like you have an egg on your face. And then they changed the makeup after that. So the makeup changes. in the mo within the movie itself. Supposedly, and I’ve never caught this in the trivia, they were going to make the Michael Myers mask blonde. And there is a shot when he’s in her bedroom, I believe, in Jamie’s bedroom, that you can still see a brief shot of the Michael Myers white mask. Face, but with blonde hair. So they were going to change it a little.
36 Maybe going back to the, I don’t know, Captain Kirk look. This is Not the worst thing that I’m going to talk about, but we’re starting to dip our toe into some. Treacherous territory with Halloween for the return of Michael Meyer, but it is out there for you to stream. And maybe if you’re doing a a full watch for the holidays, you gotta include that. As well as the next one, Halloween 5 Colon. The Revenge of Michael Myers. Oh, he’s an eye. This time he’s back with a vengeance? I mean, hasn’t he been back with a vengeance in every goddamn one since the first one?
50 So this came out in 1989. This is also streaming on AMC Plus and Shudder. Loomis becomes completely unhinged in this. He even uses at times Jamie as bait. Jamie is now in the nut house because she stabs Her stepmother at the end of four. So now she’s crazy. There’s a ripoff, even I guess you would say, of Friday the 13th in this, and that Jamie. Who was the cute little kid? Has now become possibly the villain. In fact, that’s what Danielle Harris thought was gonna happen in this. She was gonna be the villain and that she would be kind of co-killing along with her uncle as the villain in this movie. This is a lot like Friday the 13th. movies with Tommy Jarvis, the original one being played by really one of our greatest musicians. Corey Feldman. And that they have him grow up to be this psycho. And at one point, he doesn’t talk because Jamie spends most of this unable to talk because she’s so traumatized.
55 They get the mask wrong again. They see that they did it wrong. People get pissed off. They didn’t really do much better. It’s slightly better, but it’s still the original mask on the poster. You really are setting yourself up for failure. If you’re going to show people that on the poster and then deliver them some bullshit, they’re going to be mad. There’s some real crap in this. And I would say that this is the worst of all the Halloween movies. People are going to argue with that because there’s so many to choose from. as to what would be the worst, but in this Thorn timeline This one’s pretty bad. There are two cops that are chasing Michael. They’re like these bumbling cops, and they add. Kind of silly music every time they come on screen with like xylophones and don’t dun dun dun, like one of those kind of things. And there’s like bumbling sound effects when these two cops are on screen. Terrible choice. Like, there isn’t a moment of this where you should be distracted by something so fucking stupid. This also sets up the idea of this guy, the man in black.
00 Uh yeah. Within the dr druid cult and all that kind of stuff. The man in black being the one that breaks Michael out of prison because he’s being used by this druid cult to murder his. His family timeline to do some kind of bullshit that you never really understand because that’s where we’re going next with Halloween 6:: The Curse of Michael Myers. Interesting enough, at the end of this trailer, I found an original, original trailer before the title was changed. You’ll hear the original title of the movie or what it was going to be called. Um Halloween 5, I give it a 4 out of 10. pretty generous just because this is like my home turf. I’d say we get a little better in the next installment, and there’s a big reason for that. But here’s your trailer. Every legend is based on fact. Every myth is grounded in truth.
08 For 17 years, the town of Haddonfield, Illinois has been haunted. by a night when evil roamed the streets. ruled the night. Everyone knows his name. Now, everyone will know the truth. I knew what he was, but I never knew why. That Halloween since the origin of Michael Myers. Here it there, it’s Halloween 6. In fact, it’s not just Halloween 6, it’s Halloween 666. The origin of Michael Myers. Maybe a better title. Uh Dimension Films is in charge now.
10 And they take over horror for a while around this time. Scream is a big hit for them. That will influence horror for at least the next decade and maybe still is to this day. with dimension and charge. Things maybe at least get a little more money, a little more interesting. And the big thing that’s interesting about this that everyone knows is that this is introducing. Paul Stephen Rudd As Tommy. The little boy from the beginning that Laurie babysits. Tommy Doyle is back, which was supposed to happen in part four. Tommy Doyle was supposed to be the main character coming back and helping Dr. Loomis. They wait two movies to do that. So I don’t know why they didn’t just keep up with the legacy characters. And maybe because he isn’t as. related to Michael Myers, so Michael wouldn’t necessarily be trying to kill him. Paul Rudd, as Paul Steven Rudd, this is his first. Screen credit. I filmed it around the same time as Clueless. Clueless came out after.
11 So this is it for Paul Rudd. I’ve heard interviews with him that said he just was there and having a good time and everybody was lovely and he knew it was stupid, but he was a young struggling actor and of course he’s going to do whatever he can to pay the bills. Jamie is now an adult in this. So Danielle Harris is out. Jamie has her own baby. She’s given birth at the beginning of this. And Michael Myers is just following this bloodline as Jamie is killed and now he’s got I mean, these people just keep having babies. And Michael Myers is like, can you keep it in your pants? I gotta stop one day killing all these babies, man. They’re always having babies. cult wants this baby. It is the cult of thorn. And this is the curse that Michael Myers has and why he kills. All of this is bullshit, right? Nobody needs this backstory. It reminds me of what we talked about when we just did our Crystal Lake episode. I think things are scarier when you don’t know anything about them or you don’t know why they do it. They just do it.
16 I don’t need some convoluted backstory as to why Michael Myers killed his sister in 1978. I this and if this is your reason, this is really fucking stupid. The Strodes are back in Haddonfield, when this was kind of nice because they brought back at least some of that idea, and they’re living in the Myers house. Because, you know, why wouldn’t you want to live in the Myers house? This is your last Donald Pleasance. He dies. And this is one of the ones that really has a lot of different producers’ cuts. Which you can find, which kind of adds things here and there. But the bottom line is you’re still talking about a Celtic cult. uh the cult of thorn, the man in black, and Michael Myers being a Yeah. Of this cult. Ridiculous, right? This concludes the Thorn timeline. Halloween, the curse of Michael Myers, the origin of Michael Myers, whatever the fuck you want to call it. The only other thing that I like about this is it did have a song. And I remember this song being
17 Not a hit. I’m not giving it that kind of credit, but it was a, you know, like a grunge band. It was the time. Brother Kane. The guy that’s elite singer has a Chris Cornell-ish. kind of voice. full shine on. I think it was kinda it was a good sign. So look up that Brother Kane song if you’re if you like kind of 90s rock. That was the only good thing about this. I bumped this back up to a five because at least there’s some things here that hold my interest, maybe especially Paul Rudd. This is the conclusion of the Thorn timeline because we are going to be whisked away to a whole new timeline where things are a little different. with Halloween H20 20 years later. It’s 1998 in a remote California town at a secluded private school. We could have a Halloween party just before us. We could have a roaming orgy. I love the way this man thinks. No booze, no drugs, no kidding.
24 Sure. is living in fear. I know if you think I am. I changed my name when I went into hike. Terrible. My brother killed my sister. How’d he do that? a really big kitchen knife. I can’t take it, Mom. Dead. It’s been 20 years. What’s he waiting for? Don’t you think he will have shown up by now? This is a sick joke. Now, the face of good and the face of evil will meet one last time. But this time, it’s going to be a fight to the finish. This summer, Terror won’t be taking a vacation.
40 Halloween H20. It’s Halloween, I guess everyone is entitled to one good scare. I’ve had my share. And that being Janet Leigh at the end with a cameo with her daughter. Uh, I guess the original screen queen to her daughter. It was a really nice little touch. This came out in 1998. Uh it’s streaming on HBO Max and Hulu. So the major difference with Halloween H20 20 years later is that it ignores the fact that Laurie had a daughter. would have been Janie. And has a son instead, which is Josh Hartnett in his first role. So they’re all, you know, introducing another one of my favorite actors. I love Josh Hartnett, and he’s really great in this. Steve Miner of Friday the 13th fame, he directed two and three, I believe. He directs this. But at this point, Laurie is the dean of a private school.
42 Uh and The cast is excellent. Josh Hartnett. Michelle Williams as a young person, LL Cool J is okay in it. And the thing that makes this a big deal and I remember being super excited about this. is that she’s back of course they almost got carpenter back too But he asked for too much money. And Harvey Weinstein, because Miramax is making this, it’s kind of like you’re asking for too much. And John Carpenter is very quick to just dump it and walk away and say, fuck you, then, I’m not doing it. But they do get her back. Kevin Williamson has some fingerprints on this. He rewrites this script uncredited. This is Kevin Williamson after scream, so everybody’s trying to get his hands on their horror properties. Four to six was referenced but cut. In the original cut of this. So I feel like the Williamson rewrites cut out.
43 The ideas of Jamie and all that other stuff. And they make this then a direct sequel to Halloween 2. And anything that happened in 4, 5, and 6 never happened. So this is a lot of retconning. But most people will agree. This is probably the third best Halloween movie. Jamie Lee Curtis is back. She’s great in it. They got the mask even a little better this time. There are a lot of nice touches in this. And I think these are Williamson touches because Williamson, obviously, because of the. Referential nature of Scream knows his shit. My favorite one in this is there’s in the original Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis has things that she now has to say. It’s like, it’s not on the level of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s I’ll Be Back. But Jamie Lee Curtis in these movies says the phrase, or someone else will say it. Do as I say. She says this to the kids when she’s trying to save their lives in the first one. It’s almost, I would say, maybe it’s more akin to the Star Wars: someone is going to say, I got a bad feeling about this.
49 Someone will say, do as I say. Like Jamie Lee Curtis. But in the original one, she tells the children, I want you to go down the street to the McKenzie’s house. That happens in Scream. Kevin Williamson uses that line in Scream, and this says Scream all over it. But in this movie, she says, I want you to go down the street to the Beckers’ house. Casey Becker. is Drew Barrymore’s character. In scream. Definitely something that Williamson wrote. I gave this a seven out of 10. Was really excited when it came out. It had a great ending and what was or should have been. The natural conclusion To the Halloween franchise and the story of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. We still have one more that I’m going to go over, and it is Halloween resurrection. The childhood home of our most brutal mass murderer. The home has been rigged up with several cameras, but for the most part, the audience will see.
57 Only what you see. They’re not just putting us in some house with hidden cameras in the shower? This is gonna be fine. The windows will be boarded up. shut behind them. to leave until the show is over. Entertainment beginning. You think this is the one that he used to, you know, do his thing? One flash and you could light up a thousand computer screens. You are like this close to getting voted off the island. What just happened? We just lost Bill’s camera. Here’s the main hall. Uh Come sooner or later. What took you so long? Freaking shake, mother.
04 So I forgot one other thing I wanted to point out: that Jamie Lee Curtis was so good in Halloween H20. That I saw a story or an interview from back then of Quentin Tarantino. saying that he thinks she should have been nominated for an Academy Award. That’s how great he thinks her performance was. And he tried to get Harvey Weinstein. To lobby, you know, like how you have to do a lot of lobbying and you put it out there and you, you kind of like have to do a lot of politicking. The, the, Miramax should have done that for her, but they didn’t. So, uh, That’s a feather in her cap as well. But like I said, the last one ends with. Laurie. cutting off the head of Michael Myers. or what she thinks is Michael Myers. And to get one more movie out of her that she had to do because she was under contract. She signed on for two movies to get Halloween H20.
05 made. So still under contract. She has to come back one last time. Well, we thought at least one last time. Laurie Strode. Now, in a mental institution, just like Jamie Lloyd was, just like Michael, her brother, was. because she has learned that she has killed an innocent man. The beginning of it being that that entire wonderful chase And fight at the end of Halloween H20 was all meaningless because it wasn’t Michael or It was an EMT. Who’s Larynx? Michael had crushed so he couldn’t talk and say hey. Lady. I’m not Michael Myers. Couldn’t do that. switched outfits with him. The old switcheroo Michael puts on the EMT. The EMT puts on the mask and the coveralls. and Jamie Lee Curtis, Laurie Strode.
05 cuts his goddamn head off. And he’s like, Just a guy. He’s a father of however many. He’s just, you know, trying to make the make the rent by being an EMT, and she has this overwhelming guilt. But this continues that storyline of her having a son and not a daughter. There is a picture in her room of Josh Hartnett. being that son. This came out in 2002, by the way. Also streaming on HBO Max and Hulu. Halloween resurrection after the Laurie Strode stuff is done because she is waiting for him. And we do see at least then. The official death of Laurie Strode. tries to kill Michael with some booby trap kind of things. But for some reason with them both hanging off of a building. kisses him on the mouth. plummets to her death. So Do what you will with all of that. The one other thing that’s half decent about this is that at least they get Rick Rosenthal back from Halloween 2.
07 That’s a nice little thing. I think Halloween Resurrection is kind of like part three. Name it anything else, it’s a little gimmicky. But it works as a movie. It’s way too gimmicky for Michael Myers. The Busta Rhymes. De entertainment. Putting cameras in the haunted house where a serial killer is coming out. The cast was okay. It was Katee Sackhoff from Star Wars and Thomas Ian Nicholas from American Pie and Rookie of the Year. Pitcher Michael Myers got a big butt. Yeah, it’s not a terrible premise, but making it a Michael Myers movie is. The idea that was originally pitched was Halloween colon retribution. Josh Hartnett starring. to get revenge for his mother after this happens. That never happens again. The thing that people hate about this as well is the Busta Rhymes of Michael Myers Kung Fu fight.
12 Happy Halloween motherfucker! There’s some real bullshit here, right? This is a four out of 10 super generous. This came out in 2002. So that concludes to me what is the real Michael Myers timeline. We, of course, have many other movies. I’m not going to cover them on here. Maybe I’ll do this next Halloween if I want to punish myself because your next timeline is the Rob Zombie timeline. Fuck. I love his music. I hate his movies. And to me, he doesn’t understand. what Halloween is, and he bastardizes this in the name of horror porn. This is this is a lot of excruciatingly violent scenes A lot of the back story of Michael Myers a la Crystal Lake on Peacock Now, which I don’t give a shit about. And I can’t believe they made two of these movies. John Carpenter himself has said he cannot watch these movies. And I’m with him. I think they’re the worst thing. I actually think these Rob Zombie movies are worse. Then Halloween four, five, six, and eight.
17 these movies. I can’t stand them. Danny McBride timeline after that gets a little better, but the thing that bothers me the most about that. is that it ignores Halloween 2 altogether. And the idea that Laurie and Michael are siblings. No, that’s the thing that that you you Halloween one and two to me are a package deal. And I love Danny McBride. I think he’s hilarious. He’s a great actor. He’s a great writer. I love almost everything he does, but I do not condone Eliminating Halloween 2 to get these three more old lady Laurie Strode movies. With Anthony Michael Hall. And whatever the fuck other baggery is going on in these movies. So I’m not covering those either. They’re maybe okay if you don’t care as much about Halloween 2, but I do. I care a lot about Halloween 2, and the fact that they ignore it altogether. does not set well with me. But that’s about it. I mean, as far as I’m concerned, that’s about it. I’m not going to cover those other things. I’m just happy to, you know, get this out there for Halloween, kind of walk down memory lane, help you do it if you were kind of forgetting about some of those very forgettable sequels, and tell you where they’re streaming if you did want to do a deep dive for yourself.
39 But I want to thank you for listening to another episode of Streams and Nightmares and wish you a very happy Halloween from me and everyone else at NEOZAZ. Thank you so much. The clock is ticking. It’s almost time. Happy, happy Halloween Halloween Halloween Happy, happy Halloween Silver Shamrock Happy, happy Halloween Halloween Halloween Happy, happy Halloween Silver Shamrock
